Armenianophobia and terrorism are the basis of the state building of Azerbaijan.
There are a number of factors that further contribute to such behavior of the Azerbaijani side. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh Republic (NKR)) David Babayan, referring to the information spread by the Azerbaijani side about the identification of a group of servicemen and civilians allegedly working for the Armenian special services.
“A rather specific situation has developed in Azerbaijan. Having unleashed a four-day war in April 2016, Azerbaijan failed. And, despite the introduction of large funds into the military sphere, Baku can not change the military-political balance in Karabakh. In addition, uncontrolled corruption by the Aliyev clan and the de-jure privatization of Azerbaijan, manifested in the appointment of Mehriban Aliyeva (the wife of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev – Prim.red) to the post of vice-president of the country, ” he stressed.
According to the press secretary of the Artsakh President, this circumstance, of course, creates negative and protest moods in the society.
“There are many dissatisfied people in Azerbaijan, including the law enforcement agencies. And in order to neutralize them, Aliyev accuses them of having links with the enemy, that is, with the Armenian side. And this gives him the opportunity to try to raise the fallen spirit of society, legitimize the repression that he is carrying out, and on the other hand – to show the international community that he is fighting the aggressive moves of the enemy”, – said D. Babayan.
Answering the question, what should be the position of official Stepanakert on this issue, David Babayan said:” The Armenian side should not react to this kind of fiction. And in fact, the Azerbaijani side does not expect any answers. Only tries to legitimize repression in the eyes of its own people.”
